Let me tell you a little about myself and my family.
My name is Michael L. Douglas. I am very lucky and blessed to have a beautiful and supportive wife, JoAnne, and a wonderful daughter Arianna, who is thirteen and also plays guitar. Owning this business, and having my dream job, would not be possible without their love and support. My wife even allows me to display my Ibanez Destroyer collection in our home. I am a lucky man! One of the Destroyers’ I highly modified with a Kahler tremolo, three Humbuckers, and a skillful paintjob by Sid Bucanek, my paint guy.
I first began to play guitar at the age of 12. No matter what type of music I listened to at that young age, I was naturally drawn to the sounds of the electric guitar. I immediately wanted to get my hands on one… as fast as I could! With no formal training, I quickly realized that I could play by ear and became one of the many 80’s teens with dreams of becoming famous. I played in a few high school bands for fun, and always enjoyed learning new songs from guitar tablature that the latest magazine had to offer.
I never really had a fancy or expensive guitar so I was forced to try and do the best with what I had, which often required quite a bit of creativity. To get the guitar to play better I modified the action or the bridge which, as a rookie, didn’t always produce the desired results I had in mind.
In recent years however, I have done repairs on guitars for my friends and family, and restorations on my own collection. My love for repairing guitars inspired me to start my own business. To help achieve that goal, I attended Midwest Guitar Building and Repair School in St. Louis, Missouri. There I learned invaluable skills that will continually assist me in my objective to provide exceptional craftsmanship and top-notch service to my customers.
